For Parents
How do I add my child to my account? ⌄
From your parent dashboard, click + Add Child. Enter their first name, a login email (tip: you can use yourname+childname@gmail.com — it goes straight to your inbox), their grade, state, and curriculum. Then share those login details with your child — they sign in at /students/login/.
How long is the free trial and what happens when it ends? ⌄
Every new account gets a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. When the trial ends, your children won't be able to start new sessions until you subscribe at $29/mo per child. All their progress, scores, and history are saved — nothing is lost.
Can I turn off the weekly email reports? ⌄
Yes. Scroll to the bottom of your parent dashboard and toggle off Weekly Progress Report or Struggle Alerts. Changes save instantly. You can turn them back on at any time.
How do I change my child's grade or curriculum? ⌄
Find your child's card on the parent dashboard and click Edit Profile. You can update their grade, state, and curriculum at any time. The AI will immediately adapt all future lessons and chat responses to the new settings.
What is a Study Plan and how do I generate one? ⌄
A Study Plan is a week-by-week learning roadmap generated by AI for your child's specific grade, curriculum, and weak areas. On your child's card, click Generate Study Plan, choose a subject and how many weeks (8, 16, or 32), and click Generate. It's ready in seconds. You can print it or save it as a PDF — great for homeschool portfolios.
How do I cancel my subscription? ⌄
Click Manage billing on your parent dashboard (visible when your subscription is active). This opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel, change your plan, update your payment method, or download invoices.
For Students
What is the difference between Learn and Chat? ⌄
Learn is a structured lesson — concept slides, 6 question types, instant feedback, and XP rewards. Think of it like a Brilliant.org lesson built just for you.
Chat is free-form tutoring — ask anything, get explanations in plain English, request practice problems, upload a homework photo, or have your code reviewed. Use both — they work together.

What are XP, levels, and streaks? ⌄
XP (Experience Points) are earned by answering questions correctly in Learn mode. Different question types award 10–25 XP each.
Levels go up as your XP grows — Level 2 at 100 XP, Level 3 at 300 XP, and so on.
Streak counts how many days in a row you've completed at least one lesson. Keep it going to earn streak badges!

How does the Photo Homework Helper work? ⌄
In Chat mode, click the 📷 camera button and upload a photo of your homework problem. Adaptiq reads the image, tells you exactly what it sees, then asks you a guiding question to help you work through it yourself. It won't just give you the answer — it teaches you how to solve it.
Why does Adaptiq ask me questions instead of just telling me the answer? ⌄
This is intentional — it's called the Socratic method, and it's how the best tutors in the world actually teach. Research shows that students who figure things out through guided questions remember the concept far longer than students who are just told the answer. Struggle a little — it means you're learning.
What is a topic score and what does "Passed" mean? ⌄
Each lesson has 12 questions. Your score is how many you got right. You Pass a topic when you score 70% or higher (9 out of 12 or better). Passed topics get a green ✓ Done badge on the topic picker. If you don't pass, try again — your best attempt is always shown to your parent.
Technical
What grades does Adaptiq support? ⌄
Adaptiq is designed for Grades 4 through 12, including all six AP courses (Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, US History, and English). Topics and lesson difficulty are automatically adjusted to the student's grade level.
Does Adaptiq work on phones and tablets? ⌄
Yes — Adaptiq is mobile-first. Every page is designed to work on any phone or tablet. Lessons, chat, photo upload, and the parent dashboard all work on small screens. No app download required — it runs entirely in your browser.
Is my child's data private? ⌄
Yes. All data is stored on AWS infrastructure in the United States. Student data is never sold or shared with third parties. Session history and progress data are only visible to the student and their linked parent. HTTPS is enforced on all pages.
